KIDS Wheel Try-It Session Ages 8+
Saturday, Saturday, July 13th 1:00-2:15 pm.
Working on the wheel is an fun and "messy" experience. You will be introduced to the basics of working on the Potter's Wheel. We will cover centering, throwing cylinders, and bringing up walls. This is a great session for any child who has expressed an interest in giving the wheel a try. Any pieces that survive the firing process will be glazed in your choice of colors.
Price includes materials, instructions, and firings.
First-time wheel throwers experience high loss rates due to air bubbles. Dress to get muddy, we provide full-length aprons. Make sure to wear shoes that can get dirty; open-toed shoes. Pieces will undergo a lengthy drying process to improve overall outcomes. We will call you when your pieces are ready for pick-up, approximately 30 days after session.
Your child must be able to function well independently, be willing to follow instructions and safety rules of the Studio. While parents are welcome to stay and watch, we request that parents not physically assist your child. We will have knowledgeable, and experienced staff on hand to assist your child so as to achieve the best outcome.
Parents PLEASE NOTE - this session is an EXPERIENCE.
We do not guarantee that your child will have any pieces that will survive the firing process. If you or your child will find a lack of finished pieces too disappointing, then we recommend you do not register for this session.
Please contact the Studio with any questions or concerns regarding your child's participation in this session (540) 364-2834.
